You Cannot Clap With One Hand (Sample) - Joel Shupack

Producer, Reporter, Narrator

In 2014, when ISIS was terrorizing Iraq and Syria, the Yazidis, a small ethnic and religious group in the region, were a major target. Many were killed and thousands of Yazidi women and children were kidnapped to be sold as slaves in ISIS-controlled cities.

Khalil al-Dakhi, a Yazidi lawyer, managed to escape with his family to a refuge camp, and immediately started planning missions to rescue his people. In the fall of 2015, Lisa Miara, a Jewish grandmother from Jerusalem, began smuggling money into Iraq from Israel to help fund these missions.

This sample begins with Lisa describing the planning of the missions. Khalil’s voice comes in about 1:00 into the piece.
