Peter Kurz, a faucet exporter from New York, has been trying for years to get his adopted country, Israel, to fall in love with the game of baseball. After many false starts, he finally came up with an audacious plan that was so unlikely, so preposterous that it just might work: Get their third-rate national team into the Olympics. The only thing in his way? The Israelis who actually do play baseball.
So can a country with a grand total of three baseball fields actually send its national team to the Olympics? And more importantly, will anyone back home even care?
